How to Embed a Different Search Engine in Drupal

If you run a Drupal site, you can add modules that allow users to search your site's content through search engines rather than through the default search feature. This allows users more search customization, and prevents the search results from showing pages on your site that you have blocked from search-engine indexing.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Drupal module search page and look for a module for the search engine you want to use, such as Google or Bing.

    • 2

Download the module for the search engine that you want, then extract the contents of the downloaded file.

    • 3

Connect to your site through FTP, secure shell or a file-management system provided by your Web host.

    • 4

Go to your site's "sites/all/modules/" directory and create a new folder with the module's name.

    • 5

Upload the module's files to the folder you created.

    • 6

Log in to your Drupal Administrative account and enable the module.
