How to Fix String on Talking T
A "talking T" is a T-shirt that sports a word or phrase as its design. Some talking T's designs are sewn on or embroidered with string. Though not delicate, the string in such designs can break or fray as the shirt is worn repeatedly. Rudimentary sewing skills easily remedy this damage. However, an improper choice of replacement string's color can result in an unprofessional repair. Mending large areas of string damage can demand extra fabric as well. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Small needle
- Fabric (appropriately colored, for a patch)
- Thread (in a color identical to the T-shirt's design)

1
Thread a small needle. Pull a length of string through the needle's hole. This creates two ends of string. Tie a knot onto one of the ends of string, and do not tie both of the ends together.

2
Consider the size of the damaged part of the T-shirt's design. Large holes, or significant damage, needs a patch in order to be repaired. Turn the T-shirt inside out. Cut a piece of fabric in an appropriate color for the T-shirt, 1/4 an inch larger than the hole on all sides. Sew this fabric onto the T-shirt, creating a patch.

3
Remember the T-shirt design's original construction. If necessary, find a photo of the T-shirt. This photo, or your memory of the T-shirt, will help you replicate the design.
-
4
Sew the thread along the damaged area of the T-shirt's design. Work slowly, and create many small stitches instead of a few large ones.
-
5
Cut away any excess thread once you've completed the sewing. To ensure that your work is complete, evaluate the T-shirt and its design in a mirror.
