How to Hardwire an iPod to a Stereo
All iPod models contain a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack that you can use to hard wire your device to a stereo with an available audio input. This connection also requires the use of a 3.5 millimeter mini stereo to RCA adapter cable. After successfully connecting your iPod to your stereo, you can listen to audio from your iPod on the attached stereo system.

Turn the volume on your stereo system to the lowest possible volume level.

Connect the color coded RCA adapter cables to an available audio input on your stereo. The colors from the RCA adapter cables should match the colors on the stereo's inputs.

Connect the 3.5 millimeter end of the adapter cable to the headphone jack on your iPod.

Press the "Input" button on your stereo's remote control or control panel, and select the input that you connected the RCA adapter cables.

Press the "Play" button on your iPod. Sound from your iPod will start to play through your stereo's speakers.

Press the volume button on your stereo until you reach the desired listening volume.
