How to Download Embroidery Designs for Husqvarna Viking Topaz 20 Using Windows 7

By Chris Hoffman

Husqvarna Viking’s Designer Topaz 20 uses embroidery design files to automatically stitch embroideries onto your creations. You can download more embroidery designs from the Web and place them onto the Designer Topaz 20’s included USB embroidery stick. The Viking Topaz supports embroidery designs in VP3 format, which you can extract from a design’s ZIP file using Windows 7’s built-in ZIP file support. Husqvarna Viking provides some free embroidery designs and offers additional designs for sale.

Step 1

Open the Embroidery Collection page on the official Husqvarna Viking website. Click the Free Monthly Designs or More Free Designs link in the sidebar to view free embroidery designs. You can also use Husqvarna Viking's myembroideries.com website to purchase downloadable embroidery designs.

Step 2

Click the Download link on the embroidery design’s page and save the ZIP file to a folder on your computer, such as your desktop.

Step 3

Locate the downloaded ZIP file on your computer and double-click it to view its contents.

Step 4

Drag and drop the VP3 file from the ZIP archive to your desktop or another location on your computer.

Step 5

Remove the USB embroidery stick from the slot to the right of your Designer Topaz 20’s keypad and insert it into a USB port on your computer.

Step 6

Right-click the extracted VP3 file, point to Send To and select your USB embroidery stick from the menu. The Send To option won’t appear if you’re right-clicking the VP3 file while it’s still inside the ZIP archive.

Step 7

Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray at the bottom right corner of your screen and click the Eject option for your USB embroidery stick after the file progress dialogue disappears.

Step 8

Unplug the USB embroidery stick from your computer and insert it into your Designer Topaz 20’s USB slot.

Step 9

Turn on the Topaz 20, scroll down through the list of embroidery design files on the USB embroidery stick, highlight the embroidery design you downloaded and click “OK” to load it.
