How to Build Phone Restrictors
Certain phone numbers can cost money by charging for special services, such as chat lines, current sports scores or the joke of the day. These phone numbers, with a 900 or 976 beginning toll-number, can put a dent into your bank account. You can use a phone restrictor that prevents anyone in your household from dialing these numbers. The phone restrictor device will stop the dialing of numbers with more than 7 digits and with a 900 number prefix.

Listen for the beep sound to indicate that your personal code number has been set. You can hang up the phone. Press in your personal code number through the touch-tone phone to bypass the restrictions, permit outgoing calls that are more than 7 digits or perform other restrictor options.

Tips & Warnings
You can also use the phone restrictor device at your office to prevent employees from running up your office phone bill with unnecessary calls.
You will have to return the restrictor to the company to retrieve your personal code if you forget the number, which may take several weeks. Write down your personal code and keep it in a safe place.
