How to Change a Voice Codec on a Droid
The Motorola Droid smartphone uses the EVRC voice codec by default. Droid phones also include support for the older 13K voice codec and the newer EVRC-B voice codec. You can change the voice codec your Droid uses from its hidden programming menu. EVRC-B may improve your call quality, although it could potentially decrease your phone’s battery life. You can experiment with the different voice codecs and test them on your cellular service provider’s network.
