How to Fix the GPS on the Storm and Curve

Basic troubleshooting can help you fix problems with your BlackBerry Storm or BlackBerry Curve smartphone's GPS. Problems can result from a need to pull the phone's battery or update the GPS application. In most cases, a simple battery pull, or hard reset, can resolve the problem. During troubleshooting, you do not need to alter your phone's settings or change the data to fix the GPS. You also do not need to erase any data from your phone.

      Press and hold the “Power” button on your BlackBerry Storm or BlackBerry Curve smartphone if the GPS is not working. Release the button when the device begins the process of shutting down. Wait one minute, then restart the phone.

      Slide the battery cover off and remove the battery if the GPS continues to fail. Replace the battery after one minute. If the phone does not automatically restart, press the “Power” button.

      Press the “Menu” key on your BlackBerry to view the expanded home screen. Click “App World,” and then click “Updates.” Download and install any available updates for the GPS.
