How to Convert KML Files to Shape Files
KML files are created by Google and are used to display geographic information in Google Earth and Google Maps. Shapefiles are created by Esri and are used to display geographic vector data in geographic information systems software such as ArcView. If you want to view a map from Google Earth or Maps in ArcView, you must convert the KML file to a shapefile using a free conversion tool from Esri.
