Instructions

    • 1

Locate a template to use to create your teddy bear pin. Use a page from a coloring book, trace a character from a storybook or draw the outline of a teddy bear freehand if you have artistic skills.

    • 2

Pin the the teddy bear template to a piece of brown felt with a straight pin. Trace its outline with a felt-tip marker. Remove the template, and cut out the shape of the teddy bear with a pair of sharp scissors. Repeat the process to cut a second teddy bear from the felt.

    • 3

Insert a safety pin through one of the teddy bear cutouts about one-third of the way from the top of the head. Glue the second teddy bear cutout onto the one with the pin using craft glue on the side opposite from where the pin closure is. This will hide the sliver of the pin that shows through the felt and make the teddy bear a bit sturdier.

    • 4

Cut a nose and eyes from black felt. Cut a mouth from red felt. Cut small pieces of pink felt to use as the inside of the teddy bear's ears. Glue the pieces onto the piece of brown felt with craft glue, and allow them to dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make several teddy bear pins at once just in case your child loses one.

  • Make bears in different colors to give your child an array of bear pins from which to choose.

  • Avoid allowing a child who is too small to wear the pin. If your little one still likes to place foreign objects in his mouth, he is too small for the pin.
