How to Add Crocheted Flowers to a T-Shirt
You can incorporate your own individual style and flair onto simple garments, such as T-shirts, by attaching crocheted embellishments to them. This is a relatively simple task that requires only knowledge of basic sewing practices. Beginners should use hand-sewing techniques. A simple hand-sewing technique requires knowing how to tie a double knot and incorporates the practice of a straight-stitching technique.

1
Lay out your design on the T-shirt. Put the flowers in place by placing two or three quilting pins around the edges. Try the T-shirt on to better notice the placing of the flowers and make adjustments if needed.

2
Use thread that matches the crocheted flowers. Thread your needle and double-knot the end of the thread to hold it in place. Make a small stitch at the outside edge by bringing the needle up through the fabric inside of your T-shirt.

3
Make a small stitch at the outside edge by bringing the needle up through the fabric inside of your T-shirt. Pull the needle all the way through the crocheted flower to the right side of the fabric. Insert the needle back into the fabric 1/8 inch away from the first insertion and pull the tread through to secure firmly in place.

4
Proceed to make stitches along the entire edge of the crocheted flower. Tie another double knot on the inside fabric of the T-shirt when you have reached your initial stitch.
-
5
Sew a large "X" shape across the back of the flower to secure its center. Push the needle in and out of only the back side of the crocheted flower so that the stitch will not show through to the right side of the T-shirt.

Tips & Warnings
Periodically tug at the edges of your T-shirt to make sure the crocheted flower does not pucker in the middle as a result of stretchy fabric.
