DIY: Remove Built in GE JKP13 Oven

Many modern ovens, such as those in GE's JKP-series, are built into fixtures in your kitchen. This is convenient and saves kitchen space, but it can be a headache if you need to remove and replace a damaged or broken oven. Many people simply pay someone to replace a built-in oven.   • Phillips (cross-head) screwdriver

Instructions

      Locate the breaker panel in your home and flip the breaker that controls the oven circuit to the "Off" position.

      Locate the gas valve in your kitchen and shut it off.

      Open the oven door and locate the mounting screws on the inside lip of the unit. Remove the mounting screws with your Phillips screwdriver.

      Grip the oven by both sides and slide it out of the fixture. The gas and power line connectors will now be exposed. At this point, you may want to have someone hold the oven up so you can remove the lines.

      Remove the gas line from the rear of the oven an adjustable wrench and unplug the power cable.

      Slide the oven all the way out of the fixture to remove it completely.
