Ciao MIDI System Instructions thumbnail
CIAO MIDI systems can recreate sounds from 190 different accordions.

The CIAO MIDI is a system that is installed on selected SEM accordions. This system is capable of altering the sounds of the accordion notes to resemble electronic and manual accordions. The sounds come from accordion types that have been played through history and in different countries. Familiarizing yourself with the system is relatively easy once you decide the output sound that you wish to create.

Instructions

    • 1

Position the accordion so that you can see the entire control board of the CIAO MIDI. This panel will be located on the master board.

    • 2

Look at the first section of the MIDI located on the left side of the panel. This is the sections area. There are three buttons and an adjustment knob. Push each of the buttons in turn while operating the bellows. Adjust the dial until the desired treble, chords and bass settings have been achieved.

    • 3

Look at the second section of the MIDI located immediately to the right of the sections area. This is the music type section. There are 10 numbered dials that range from 0 to 9. These buttons represent different sounds that are characteristic of specific countries or accordion music types. Adjust the buttons while operating the bellows until the desired music sound is achieved. Locate the jazz and elkavox dials on the far right of this section. Adjust the dials for each of these options until the music balance type is achieved.

    • 4

Look at the third section of the MIDI located immediately to the right of the music type section. This is your volume section. There are two knobs on the section and a row of lights that range from green to yellow and red. The top knob will turn the volume up and the bottom knob will turn the volume down. Adjust the knob position while operating the bellows.

    • 5

Locate the fourth section of the MIDI located on the far right of the panel. There are three knobs that can be used to adjust the bellows, octave and midiout level balancing. Adjust each knob until the proper balance is achieved.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adjust all of the knobs slowly to hear all of the potential combinations. Different songs or venues may require different balances.

  • Do not wait to adjust the balances right before an event. It may take some time to find the desired sound and it will delay the starting time and ambiance of the event.
