Navteq Instructions
Navteq, a global provider of digital maps, derives its data from more than 80,000 sources and more than 1,000 geographic analysts. With this data in hand, the company creates and supplies maps for portable GPS devices, smartphones and built-in automotive navigators. While instructions vary for each Navteq-powered device, you can follow basic instructions across each type of device to acquire and install Navteq updates or products. Additionally, Navteq's website offers basic “point A to point B” directions.

Enter your starting location – including the street address, city, state and ZIP code – in the blank field next to the letter “A.” Click the “Search” button to show the location on the map, or proceed to the next step to get directions from here to another location.

Enter your destination in the blank “B” field, and click the “Route” button. This displays a visual route from one location to another on the site's map screen. Scroll down in the box on the left-hand side to view turn-by-turn directions.

Change your view on the map screen by clicking the arrow icons to move left or right, the magnifying glass to zoom in or the house icon to return to the main map. Click the printer symbol to print directions or the question mark for help.
GPS Instructions

Visit the Navteq Store's website and select the type, brand and model number of your GPS device from the drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

Connect your GPS device to your computer via a compatible USB cable. For Garmin devices, you must have the Garmin Communicator Plugin installed on your computer.

Click “Download Now” on the page of the Navteq update you wish to install and wait for the download to successfully complete, at which time your computer will display a “Download Successful” message.

Click “Safely Remove Hardware” on Windows computers or the “Eject” button on Mac computers. Unplug the GPS device from your computer.
Smartphone Instructions

Visit the Navteq store on your mobile device's browser. You must have an iPhone, Android or Windows mobile device to download Navteq's MobileNavigator or MyRegion navigation application.

Select “Smart Phone” from the drop-down menu on the site's left-hand side, then select the “iPhone, Android, Windows phone” group.

Choose MobileNavigator North America or MyRegion US West, US Central or US East and click the “Download Now” button. Choose “Launch Application” and follow the on-screen instructions to install the app on your smartphone.
Auto Instructions

Visit the Navteq Store online.

Select “Built-in, Factory Installed” from the drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the site. Select your manufacturer and, if required, the model and year of your vehicle.

Follow the external link provided by Navteq to access your auto manufacturer's map update website for your particular vehicle. Order an update DVD, insert the DVD in your auto's DVD drive and follow the on-screen instructions to install your Navteq update.

Tips & Warnings
Some Navteq updates and products may come with a fee. Navteq will always prompt the customer and ask for credit card information and validation before making charges.
