How to Subnet With a Bridge

Bridging two or more subnets allows you to share information or an Internet connection through those subnets. Subnets are sub-divisions of a larger local network. Typically, the administration of subnets is done through a central computer that acts as a server. You can bridge subnets by editing the network settings of the server.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the computer that is at the intersection of the subnets and click "Start." Type "network adapters" into the search box at the bottom of the Start menu.

    • 2

Select "View Network Connections" from the list that appears at the top of the menu.

    • 3

Press and hold the "Ctrl" key down and click on each network adapter that is connected to one of the subnets that you want to bridge.

    • 4

Right-click on any selected adapter and select "Bridge Connections."
