How to: A Broken Evernote Button on a Mac
Evernote is a great way to save clips from websites for later offline reading, and you can make the process even easier by installing an Evernote Web Clipper button on your favorite Mac browser. However, as with any browser extension, there can be hiccups and if the Evernote button appears to be broken you may have to troubleshoot or reinstall the Web Clipper, your browser or the Evernote application.

Verify that the Evernote Web Clipper extension is installed. If the extension is installed you should see the Evernote button in the address bar of your browser. If the button is missing, install the Evernote extension from the "Downloads" page at evernote.com.

Clear your browser's cache and then restart the browser to ensure the browser itself is running properly. Sometimes when memory becomes low, such browser functions as the Evernote button may function erratically.

Make sure your browser is set to accept third-party cookies. If your browser is blocking cookies, you may need to sign in each time you try to use the Web Clipper.

Uninstall the Evernote Web Clipper extension and reinstall it from the "Downloads" page at evernote.com. To uninstall Evernote Web Clipper from Safari, go to the "File" menu, choose "Safari Preferences" and click "Extensions." Select "Evernote" in the list of extensions and click "Uninstall."
To uninstall Evernote Web Clipper from Firefox, go to the "Tools" menu, choose "Add-ons," find "Evernote Web Clipper" in the list of add-ons and click "Remove."
To uninstall Evernote Web Clipper from Google Chrome, go to the "Window" menu, choose "Extensions," find "Evernote Web Clipper" in the list of extensions and click "Uninstall."

Uninstall and reinstall the Evernote application. To uninstall Evernote, drag the application icon into the Trash, right-click or option-click on the Trash icon and choose "Empty Trash." You won't lose any notes when you uninstall Evernote.

Tips & Warnings
Older versions of the Evernote Web Clipper for Safari conflicted with Mac OS X Lion causing the button to disappear. Evernote released an updated version of the Web Clipper to work with Lion.
Before troubleshooting Evernote, you should sync your existing notes in the Evernote application as a safeguard.
