"Dominion," also informally known as "Minions," is a fantasy card game in which players compete to build a kingdom in a fictional land. One of the expansions of the game has a sea theme, and it is often played for Halloween because of its association with pirates. The game comes with pirate ship cards, as well as a pirate ship playing mat, where you can collect various cards to build a pirate ship and its crew. If you want to make a pirate ship for Halloween during a game of "Minions," play with the appropriate expansion cards.

Select a pirate ship playing mat at the beginning of the game, and review the mat to determine which cards you need to get in order to build a pirate ship with a crew. If you collect all of the cards outlined on the pirate ship mat, you have a stronger hand that makes it harder for your opponents to defeat you in battles. The cards for the pirate ship mat include the pirate ship cards, smithy cards, copper or gold treasure tokens, and smuggler cards. Try to collect all 10 pirate ship cards that the game comes with to have a stronger hand.

Reserve the pirate-related cards as you collect them. Throughout the game, you are given opportunities to buy, trade and sell cards, so obtain as many pirate cards as possible to build your ship. Be careful about trading any of these, and be aware that you may also lose some of these cards -- not by choice -- when you are forced to reveal your cards in a battle.

Reveal the pirate ship cards strategically throughout the game to move your pirate ship around the dangerous waters, moats and from port to port. As you play the actual pirate ship cards, which have a picture of a pirate ship on them, the other players are forced to choose between giving up two of their cards or offering you a treasure. The pirate ship card is an action or attack card, but if another player has an action or reaction and attack card, the player can challenge the pirate ship card to a battle.

Keep up the Halloween theme of the game by collecting the ghost ship cards and treasure map cards that are part of the seaside expansion of the "Minions" game. However, you cannot mix and match Halloween-themed cards from other expansions or the original game because the instructions on each card may not make sense for the seaside version that you are playing.
