How to Remove the Drum From a Sears Cement Mixer
Sears home cement mixers make big outdoor projects easier since you mix and pour your own cement and concrete. However, once the project is done, if you don’t immediately clean out the cement mixer the, cement hardens inside, making your next project much harder to start. To properly clean the drum, remove it from the stand. The Sears cement mixer drum is held in place with a nut in the drive shaft located in the center of the drum. Does this Spark an idea?

Hosing Sears cement mixer’s drum’s inside removes most of the left over cement. Pour out the excess water from the drum by tilting it forward with your hands.

Locate the nut on the drive shaft inside the cement drum. The nut is positioned right above the mixer paddles on the shaft. Use the wrench to loosen it. Remove the nut.

Remove the mixer paddles from the shaft and set them aside. The paddles are held in place by the nut on the drive shaft. Once the nut is removed, the mixer paddles slide off the shaft without resistance.

Loosen the bolts on the drum’s side with the wrench if the drum is held steady by the side bolts. If the side bolts are not engaged, the drum slides off the drive shaft when you tilt it forward and pull it off. The only part of the stand attaching to the drum is the drive shaft. Slide the drum from the drive shaft with a helper and set it down.

Don't attempt to lift the drum on your own since it is very heavy.
