How to Make a Step and Repeat Wall
A step and repeat wall is a board or sign placed against a wall that is used for photo opportunities at high-profile events. The board has a logo of the event or charity arranged brick-like across its entire surface. Most step and repeat walls are made by sign shops on a vinyl surface. The vinyl is then mounted to a metal frame and placed at the event near the entrance. Early versions of this sign were less expensive and put together with materials on hand. Making a step and repeat for your family reunion or anniversary can use the same old-school techniques. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place two sheets of 4-by-8-foot white panels next to each other on the floor. Butt the long edges together and align the top and bottom. Tape the panels together using 2-inch-wide white fabric tape on the front and back of the panels.

2
Create one or two logos for your event. A logo is a name, symbol or design that represents the event. The logo should be approximately 15 inches wide and 9 inches tall. When possible, some part of the logo should be one or more colors. Print out your logo in color on 11-by-17-inch paper. If you printer is too small, use a photocopier shop to print out the prints. You need a total of 50 prints.

Spray the top 15 inches of the white side of your panels with spray adhesive. Align one print at the top left corner. Press the print down smoothly. If you have a second logo, alternate every other step with a different logo. Press your second print aligned with the right edge of your first print. Smooth it onto the board. Continue across the width of the board.

4
Start your second row with the same logo design as the first row print. Position your print on the edge of the board but only halfway across the paper. This means that the left half of the paper will be off the edge of the board. Alternate your logos across the second row. Keep your seams even and tight and your paper smooth. When you need to spray more glue, Place garbage bags over the logos you have already sprayed on to protect them from the glue and spray your next area. Only spray what you can reach easily during each glue session.

5
Start your third row with the alternate logo or the second print you pasted down. You will quickly see the pattern of the logos as you paste them down. Continue until the entire panel is pasted. Trim off the extra paper around the edges using a sharp knife. Use hook and loop tape on the back side to attach the panel to a wall for the photos.
