How to Transfer Files in Cabinet Vision 5

Many people transfer files between one version of Cabinet Vision’s Solid computer-aided design, CAD, drafting and manufacturing software, and version Solid 5.0. Typically, a user transfers files to work or present finished designs between the versions on the same computer or two or more computers. Planit has designed Solid so that you can transfer the files you need with little hassle. You simply need to use the Solid Automatic Backup utility.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you need to transfer files from an older version of Solid on one computer to Solid 5.0 on a different computer, save the folder to an external hard drive. In Step 7, return to the My Computer screen, connect an external hard drive to your computer, double-click the drive letter when it appears, then paste the file to the drive. Connect the drive to the second computer, copy the file from the drive and then repeat Step 7 to locate the Solid 5.0 Automatic Backups folder and paste the file to it.

  • Some of your transferred files may not work, or work the same way, in Solid 5.0.
