How to Sync a List for Ripping CDs

If you have an audio CD, you will notice that simply selecting the audio files and copying them to your hard disk drive does not create functional audio files. One way to copy songs from the audio CD to your computer is to use the Rip function in Windows Media Player. To transfer the ripped songs to your mobile device, you must sync your Windows Media Player list with the device. You can sync the list automatically or manually.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click the "Windows Media Player" icon on your desktop or click on it in the "Start" menu to start the software.

    • 2

Insert the audio CD in your CD-ROM drive. Insert an audio CD into the CD drive. Windows Media Player will ask if you want to import the songs to the Library. Click "Yes."

    • 3

Click on the "Rip CD" button in the Now Playing mode or on the "Rip CD" option in the Player Library to start ripping the audio tracks. To change the format and bit rate, go to the Player Library, select the "Rip settings" menu item and select the "Format" or "Audio Quality" options.

    • 4

Wait for the audio tracks to be ripped. You will find them in the Player Library. Double-click one of the files to open it in the player. The rip was a success if you can play the file.

    • 5

Turn on the device you want to sync with the list and connect it to your computer by using a USB cable. The Windows Media Player software must be running.

    • 6

Select the "AutoPlay" option to start syncing the device with the Windows Media Player list. If your device has a storage capacity of over 4GB, the player will select to sync the device automatically. Click "Finish" to sync it with the Windows Media Player Library containing the ripped audio tracks.

Click the "Sync" tab if your device has a storage capacity of under 4GB and the player does not sync the device automatically. Select your device in the "Navigation" pane and drag the audio tracks you just ripped to the "List" pane. Click on the "Start Sync" button to sync your device with the list.
