How to Move a Marble Bathtub

Removing a marble bath tub usually requires plumber assistance.

Moving a marble bathtub isn't much unlike moving any other heavy piece of furniture or an appliance. It requires a little more labor because of its sheer weight, but with the right tools, the job can proceed smoothly. Using a furniture dolly offers the tub the proper support for moving. Enlisting the help of a few friends makes lifting the tub less laborious.

Things You'll Need

• Lumber sheet
• Furniture dolly
• Assistance
• Carpet or plywood pieces
• Moving truck with ramp

Instructions

1. Lay a lumber sheet on top of the dolly. It should cover the majority of the base.

2. Move the dolly next to the bathtub.

3. Position one person on each end of the tub. Position an additional one to two people on each side of the tub.

4. Grip the bottom of the tub. Lift it straight up. Rest it on its side on top of the lumber sheet on the dolly.

5. Lay down carpet or plywood pieces on the floors along the moving path.

6. Roll the dolly over the carpet or plywood, through any doorways and out to the moving truck.

7. Lift the bathtub off the dolly and onto the floor of the moving truck. Place a heavy blanket over the tub to protect it.
