How to Check Paper That's Not Spooling on Your HP PSC 1410
Paper jams, incorrectly installed or dirty cartridges commonly cause paper spooling problems on an HP PSC 1410 printer. In some situations, the Check Paper LED may stay lit to indicate a paper problem, and other times, more troubleshooting is required to determine the real cause and a closer inspection of the loaded paper and cartridges is recommended. The spooling problem can often be resolved by checking the paper try for damaged paper, checking the bays the paper passes through for stuck paper, cleaning the printer cartridge or resetting your printer.
Instructions
-
Reload Paper and Check Jams
-
1
Reload the paper in the tray if the Check Paper LED is lit. Remove wrinkled, used, bent, torn or curled paper from the stack.
-
2
Check for paper jams if the paper still doesn't spool or the Check Paper LED remains lit by pressing in the tab on the left side of the rear clean-out door on the back of your printer. Remove the rear clean-out door from the machine. The rear clean-out door is the long, horizontal plastic cover on the back of your printer. The printer has two tabs: one on the left and one on the right.
-
-
3
Pull any paper carefully from the rollers. Be sure to remove all of the small paper pieces, if found.
-
4
Reinstall the rear clean-out door. Push the door gently back onto your printer until it snaps to indicate that it is locked securely in place.
-
5
Press the "On/Resume" button.
Reinstall and Clean Cartridges
-
6
Pull down the tab on the front clean-out door. The front clean-out door is located on the front of the printer. The tab is located in the middle of the front clean-out door. Gently push down on the black ink printer cartridge to release it from its chamber, then pull it out of the printer. Remove the remaining color ink printer cartridge in the same way, if one is installed. Confirm that the tape is removed from the both ink printer cartridges.
-
7
Dip a clean rubber swab in distilled water so that it's slightly damp and then remove any excess water.
-
8
Wipe the copper contacts and edges around the ink nozzles only. Avoid the ink nozzles and nozzle plate.
-
9
Reinstall the ink printer cartridges and confirm each one is properly seated. To do so, gently push each cartridge back and down inside of its ink printer cartridge chamber until it clicks into place.
-
10
Press the "Cancel" button and then try printing a document.
Reset Printer
-
11
Reset your printer if the paper still doesn't spool by pressing the "On/Resume" or "Power" button to turn off the machine.
-
12
Unplug the power cord from the back of your printer, wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in.
-
13
Press the "On/Resume" or "Power" button to turn your printer back on. Try printing to the printer to see if the problem is resolved.
