Although a small amount of water should remain in the bottom of your Hotpoint HDA3400G02WW dishwasher, it should not be any deeper than 1/8 inch. If a significant amount of water remains in the bottom once it completes a cleaning cycle, the most likely cause is a clogged filter. The pump filter consists of a housing cover and a filter screen. Cleaning the filter on your Hotpoint dishwasher does require that you disassemble some of the filter housing.
