Propagate DNS With 1and1

The 1and1 hosting service offers DNS servers you use to point your domain website to the 1and1 servers. You propagate the DNS when you change the DNS server entries. You accomplish this in the 1and1 hosting control panel after you sign up and create your Web hosting account. The DNS takes between 24 and 72 hours to complete propagation.

Instructions

1. Open a Web browser and log in to your 1and1 hosting administration panel at "admin.1and1.com."

2. Click "Domains" in the first administration screen. A list of domains display. Click the one you want to edit to move to the main dashboard for the domain.

3. Click "Edit DNS Settings." Three text boxes display where you enter your DNS server names. 1and1 provides you with the proper DNS server names when you sign up for the service. Type these three DNS servers into the text boxes.

4. Click "OK" to save the changes. The propagation begins, but the changes can take up to 72 hours to complete.
