How to Make a Webcam Out of a Namtai Eye
The Sony PlayStation 2 Eye Toy comes in two versions from different manufacturers, Logitech and Namtai. The Eye Toy uses a standard USB connection, so it is possible to use the camera as a webcam with the proper drivers. Both versions are identical on the outside, but require different driver software. Drivers are available for for both versions on 32-bit versions of Windows.

Download the Namtai EyeToy drivers from the iPlayPlaystation web site. The drivers are stored in a ZIP file. Select the option to open the file and drag the contents of the file to your desktop.

Plug the Namtai Eye camera into a USB port on your PC.

Click the "Start" button on the Windows task bar and type "Device Manager" in the search bar at the bottom of the screen.

Locate "EyeToy USB camera Namtai" and right-click on the listing.

Select "Update Driver..." and choose "No, not at this time." Click "Next."

Choose "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click "Next."

Check "Include this location in the search:" and click the "Browse" button. Select the desktop and click "Next." Click "Continue Anyway" if the computer gives you a warning about compatibility. A window showing "?????." will appear. Click "OK."

Click "No" on the screen that asks you to confirm whether you live in a 50-Hz area.

Click "Finish" to complete the install.

Tips & Warnings
The Eye Toy drivers do not work with 64-bit versions of Windows. Check which version you have by right-clicking on the "Computer" option in the Start menu and selecting "Properties."
