LED Festoon DIY

Festoons of garland are commonly seen outside homes around Christmastime.

Decorating for the holidays -- or any other special occasion you might have throughout the year -- doesn't have to be difficult. Simple, homemade decorations often look the best when hung throughout or around the outside of your house. Festoons of garland are common holiday decorations, and you can make or decorate your festoons with whatever you like, including strands of LED lights.

Things You'll Need

• Strand of 50 to 100 LED lights
• 5 feet of garland
• Hooks

Instructions

1. Unravel your light strand and the garland. Lay them out on the floor side by side to ensure you have enough LED lights to wrap the length of the garland. Add a second strand of lights if you think you'll run out. Remember, as it's wrapped you'll lose length little by little, which may cause you to come up short of lights.

2. Wrap the LED strand around the garland. Start with the end without the plug and twist it loosely around the garland until you reach the end.

3. Hang your hooks where you plan to hang your LED festoon. Drape your garland across the hooks and plug it in to light up your new decoration.
