How Can I Get MyxerTones Even Though I Have Verizon?

Cellphones need Internet and PIX message capabilities to get Myxer ringtones.

Myxer is a free multimedia website that offers commercial and user-created content for mobile devices, such as apps, videos, wallpaper and ringtones. Myxer downloads are delivered by text or picture message to compatible devices, including the majority of Verizon Wireless phones. If you're unable to install a Myxer ringtone on your phone, it may be due to the file size or your device doesn’t meet the minimum requirements. Although Verizon doesn’t typically restrict Myxer ringtones, some phones offered by this carrier aren't enabled to accept downloaded music as ringtones.

Instructions

1. Navigate to myxer.com. Place your cursor over the “Ringtones” subheading to view an expanded menu. Click your desired category, such as "Jazz" or "Comedy."

2. Click a thumbnail to view ringtone details and price. Most Myxer content is free, but premium ringtones include a fee. Click the play button to hear a sample of the ringtone. Click “Get It” if you’re ready to download the song.

3. Click “Customize it first” to edit the ringtone. Click and drag the orange bars at the left and right of the meter to change the beginning or end of the ringtone. Avoid making a lengthy ringtone to ensure that it fits as a message attachment. Click “Loop” if you want the tone to replay automatically. Click a desired volume from the drop-down menu.

4. Click the play button to review the ringtone after making changes, and then press “Continue.” Type your phone number into the text box and click “Next” or “Buy Now.” You're prompted to sign in or enter registration details if you aren't a current member.

5. Press “Send” and wait to receive the message on your Verizon phone. Download the attachment from the PIX message on your phone. If no download is attached, the ringtone may be too long. You can restart the process and edit the song to make it shorter.

Tips & Warnings

• The manufacturer and service carrier can restrict you from using downloaded songs as ringtones. However, these phones do allow other types of Myxer content, such as wallpaper. If you want a specific song or a section of a song, use the Make-Your-Own feature to create a custom ringtone. You can upload a music file from your computer and edit the length.

• Verizon Wireless phones receive downloads by PIX message, which requires image viewing capabilities. If your phone can't display images, you won't be able to use the ringtone service. If you own a camera phone and the message isn't clearly displayed, enable the PIX message feature in your Settings menu.
