How to Set Up XPE
Microsoft Windows XP Embedded, or XPE, is a version of the XP Professional operating system that is componentized. This componentization allows you to program fixed-functions on “embedded” devices, such as kiosks, terminals, scanners and point-of-sale registers. Additionally, it has security features designed specifically for these types of machines and devices, which prevent system files from being overwritten and allow control over how the system runs and boots. Programming XPE is different for every specific device and running scenario, but installation and initial set-up are similar for all.
