How to Override CSS in Dolphin 7

Dolphin is an open-source, social website management tool developed by BoonEx. When building a website using such a tool, it is usually a good idea to modify the default template to give your site a unique look and differentiate it from other sites created with the same software. The most convenient way to alter a template's look is to edit its Cascading Style Sheets files. CSS files contain a list of page attributes, such as color, height and font, and user-defined values. You can override default CSS files in Dolphin 7 and add your own CSS tags by editing the program's settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Web browser and type the URL of your Dolphin admin panel in the address bar. Press the “Enter” key to navigate to your site and then log in to the admin panel.

    • 2

Click on "Settings" and select "Advanced Settings."

    • 3

Open the "Template" subcategory and activate the check box next to "Enable Users to Change Templates." Deselect the check box next to "Enable cache for CSS files" and click on the "Save" button.

    • 4

Use your computer's Windows Explorer tool to navigate to the folder containing your Dolphin 7 files, if your site is hosted locally. For a site hosted on a remote server, use your host's file manager tool or an FTP client.

    • 5

Navigate to the "Templates" folder in the main Dolphin 7 directory. Double-click on the folder named after the template you want to edit and open the "CSS" folder within it.

    • 6

Right-click on any CSS file inside the folder and choose "Open with." Click on "Notepad." Add or delete CSS tags inside the file and save it. Dolphin 7 will automatically reload the file once you save it.
