How to Disassemble a Logitech Z-640 Subwoofer

Logitech makes numerous computer peripherals, including mice, keyboards and speakers. The Z-640 speaker system includes four satellite speakers, one center speaker and a 10-inch subwoofer. You can open the case of the subwoofer, but you run the risk of damaging it and voiding the warranty.

      Unplug the subwoofer's power cord from its electrical socket.

      Pry around the grille on the front of the subwoofer with the flathead screwdriver. Separate the grille from the silver rim surrounding it.

      Remove the six screws that are exposed when you take off the grille. Pull the speaker face panel off to expose the interior parts of the subwoofer, including the 25.7 watt speaker, the electrical transformer and fuse, and the 6.5-inch driver.

      Turn the subwoofer so that the back of it is facing you. Remove the 10 screws on the perimeter of the volume and audio jack panel of the subwoofer case.

      Pull the panel carefully away from the rest of the subwoofer to access the circuit board.
