How to Make Hawaiian Foot Mops

Make foot mops using ordinary thongs.

Hawaiian foot mops are nothing more than dust cloths that attach to your feet. They resemble the oval-shaped footwear often seen in the Pacific islands, thus denoting the Hawaiian theme. Hawaiian foot mops are slipped on like an ordinary pair of house slippers and used to scoot across the floor, usually hardwood, to pick up dust or just to buff the floor. Make several pairs of these handy slippers and keep them in the bathroom, kitchen or anywhere to give your floor that quick once-over.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the thumbs from both oven mitts. Use a needle and thread to sew the opening shut.

    • 2

Spread a layer of hot glue onto the bottom of the flip-flops. Place the flip-flops down onto the center of the oven mitts and hold them there with pressure for three minutes.

    • 3

Put on the mitts and scoot across the floor.

Tips & Warnings

  • You don't need to cut off the thumbs if you don't want to. It just gives the mitt more of a streamlined look. For a true Hawaiian look, purchase oven mitts that are bright colors or imprinted with flowers, vines or foliage.

  • Don't put on the mitts until the hot glue has cooled at least three minutes. Be careful with hot glue; it can burn skin.
