Use colored marshmallows to create more colorful snowman suckers.

When the temperatures drop and the holiday season begins, many families enjoy baking holiday treats and goodies. Instead of making traditional holiday sugar cookies and squares, entertain your kids by making snowman suckers using marshmallows. Snowman suckers are easy and fun to make, and — at only 25 calories per marshmallow — they are a lower-calorie choice than most holiday snacks. If you’re concerned about your waistline, modify this recipe so you use only one or two marshmallows per stick. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Poke lollipop sticks through marshmallows to create the bodies of your snowman suckers. You need to use only one marshmallow to create a snowman head; but if you want to create the whole snowman, put three marshmallows on each stick. The stick should not go all the way through the head of the snowman.

    • 2

Melt vanilla chips in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl. When melted, dip the marshmallow suckers into the white chocolate until they are completely covered.

    • 3

Lay the wet chocolate sticks on a sheet of waxed paper until the chocolate hardens. If you’re in a hurry, stick them in the refrigerator to speed up the process.

    • 4

Melt chocolate wafers in the microwave, then pour the melted chocolate in a piping bag with a small, circular decorating tip attached to it. Use the melted chocolate to pipe eyes, a smile and other markings on your snowman.

    • 5

Melt other colors of chocolate wafers to create colored details on your snowman suckers, such as scarves or carrot noses.

Tips & Warnings

  • To make your marshmallow suckers healthier, don't dip them in vanilla chocolate. Instead, use plain marshmallows; or use colored marshmallows for a more festive look.
