How to Patch a Dreambox
Dreamboxes are set-top satellite TV devices manufactured by Dream Multimedia. Depending on the model, they can record to a DVD-RW or hard drive. The manufacturer periodically releases firmware updates. Download the update file from the Dream Multimedia Web site and install it through the device's built-in HTML interface.

Flip the power switch from the back of your Dreambox to turn it off completely.

Depress the "Down arrow" button on the front panel and turn the power switch back on.

Depress the button until "Stop" appears on the LCD panel on the front of the Dreambox. Release the button after it appears. After a few seconds, an IP address will appear on the screen.

Navigate on your computer to the IP address displayed on the Dreambox screen.

Click the "Firmware Upgrade" link on the bottom of the page.

Click the "Durchsuchen..." button and select the patch file.

Click "Flash!" to install the patch.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't see an IP address after a few seconds, you will need to use a terminal emulator to set an IP address for the Dreambox manually. Enter "115200/8N1" as the COM port in the terminal emulator and press the "S" key to access the Dreambox menu. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Network" menu and set the network type filed to "Manual." Enter an IP address that is not in use on your network in the IP Address field and press "F9" to save.
