Instructions

    • 1

Cut felt in the colors of your choice into palm-sized pieces. Cut these pieces into a spiral shape. This may be easier if you roughly draw a spiral onto the felt to guide you when you are cutting, as you want the spiral to be about the same width from start to finish.

    • 2

Roll the spiral, starting with the outside end, to form the rosette. Glue the inside end of the spiral to the bottom of your rosette, once you have finished rolling it. This will help keep it from unrolling.

    • 3

Once you have enough rosettes made to cover your ornament, glue them in place so they cover the entire surface. Allow your new rosette Christmas ornament to dry before hanging it on your tree or wrapping it as a gift.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use a foam ball and a ribbon to make an ornament, if you don't want to use glass or plastic ball ornaments, and a wide ribbon folded in half can be used to form the rosettes instead of using felt.

  • Starting with a smaller circle of felt and cutting a narrower spiral will result in smaller rosettes, which may work better if you are covering relatively small ornaments instead of the more standard size ones.

  • Do not allow children to use hot glue. Adults should take care when using hot glue to avoid burning themselves.
