A sheet costume can keep your child warm on a cold Halloween.

Halloween is a time for kids to dress up, scare each other and collect candy. Making a costume at home, however, can be time consuming and difficult. One household object that can be made into a variety of Halloween costumes is a regular bed sheet. Cut it, fold it, tie it and draw on it to make an easy and creative Halloween costume that will elicit screams, laughs or a combination of the two.

Instructions

    • 1

Drape a white sheet over your child. Cut off the excess sheet so that it goes to your child's ankles without dragging on the ground. To add some scary style, make jagged cuts around the edge of the sheet.

    • 2

With the sheet still draped over your child, use a black marker to mark where your child's eyes are. Remove the sheet. Use scissors to cut eye-holes. Place it back on your child and make sure he can see.

    • 3

Cut a mouth-hole if your child wants one. Alternatively, use the black marker to draw a spooky looking mouth.

    • 4

Have your child practice raising his arms in a spooky way and talking in a warbly voice. Get him to practice walking without significant vertical movement in his body to imitate floating.

Tips & Warnings

  • Draw parallel vertical black lines of varying width on the front of the sheet to turn this into a bar code costume.
