How to Make a Scissor Lift With NXT 2.0
The NXT 2.0 is a programmable robotics kit manufactured by Lego in 2009. The kit was released as a follow-up to the first-generation kit sold in 2006. The kit includes 619 pieces and features the NXT brick, which is a programmable core that reads the sensors and controls the motors. The kit also features an RGB color sensor, three servo motors and two touch sensors. A variety of models can be constructed using the pieces from the kit. In addition to a forklift, users can build a model scissor lift with a hand crank.

1
Remove the packaging from the boxes and read the instruction manual completely before assembling anything. Familiarize yourself with the pieces.
-
2
Insert the gray axle through the two round orange pieces at the rear of the main center assembly.
-
-
3
Snap a gray wheel onto each end of the axle.
-
4
Position the two orange L-shaped pieces facing down on each side of the main center assembly. Slip a gray axle rod through the left outer orange piece, the center assembly and the other orange L-shaped piece. Slip a blue dowel pin through the first slot on each orange L-shaped piece to affix each piece to the center assembly. Connect the small gray crank pin into the second hole on the orange piece on the left-hand side of the center assembly.
-
5
Remove eight of the long, slender girder pieces from the parts bag. Connect four girder pieces by slipping a blue dowel pin into each end. The end result will be the scissor assembly for each side of the scissor lift.
-
6
Connect the lift to each side of the center assembly using the bottom blue dowels inside the girder pieces.
-
7
Connect the white, flat platform piece to the top end of the two girder pieces that make the lift assembly.
-
8
Turn the gray hand crank on the center assembly to the right to make the scissor lift rise. Turn it to the left to lower it.
