How to Install File Folders in Steelcase
Steelcase designs, manufactures and sells various office furniture and storage products including chairs, desks, tables and file cabinets. If you are the owner of a new Steelcase file cabinet, some minor assembly is necessary. Determine your cabinet’s date of manufacture. Open the file drawer. If the inside is black, your cabinet was manufactured after May 5, 1997. If the inside is the same color as the outside, your cabinet was manufactured before May 5, 1997.

Determine the file bar size. Measure the full width of the cabinet from the outside. File size is determine by the measurement of the outside of the cabinet, not the inside measure of the drawer.

Order the corresponding file folder bar size and file bars.

Pull the file cabinet drawer out.

Insert the file folder bars into the openings on each side of the drawer. The bars lock into place.

Drop the folders into the file bars. The folders hang on the file folder bars.
