How to Make Party Favor Tubes for a Mini Pinata

Small pinatas can't hold as much candy as larger ones, but it's still exciting to break them open. Dress up the favors and candy by packaging them in small tubes. Mini pinatas resemble the larger versions, with decorations of crepe or tissue paper. Favor tubes can mimic the pinata design so it's like each guest receives his own small version as a favor. The tubes also keep the favors neatly packaged for each guest so there isn't a mad scramble for the goodies.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 1 1/2-inch strip of thin cardboard, such as the cardboard from a cereal box. Make the strip 4 inches long.

    • 2

Roll the strip into a tube. Adjust the width of the tube so it is wide enough to slip the favor inside. A 1-inch-wide tube works well for holding a small piece of candy.

    • 3

Seal the seam of the tube with transparent tape so it doesn't come unrolled. Fold the ends of the tape into the inside of the tube.

    • 4

Cut a double layer of tissue paper into a 4-by-4-inch square. Use a single color of tissue for both layers or two colors, depending on your preference.

    • 5

Lay the tube on the center of the tissue square. Roll the tissue around the tube tightly. Twist the ends of the tissue to secure them.

    • 6

Cut two pieces of yarn. Tie a piece of yarn around the twisted portion of the tissue at either end of the tube to secure it. Alternatively, use curling ribbon to secure the twists.

Tips & Warnings

  • Vary the size of your tubes to match the size of the favors. For a larger pinata, use larger tubes and place multiple favors in each one.
