How to Import FTM MySQL Files
The Family Tree Maker software can use MySQL to import data into your database. With its import feature, you can import the data from another computer. An FTM file extension indicates that you have a file exported from another copy of the Family Tree Maker software that is compatible with the import process on any computer running a local copy of FTM.

Open the Family Tree Maker software on your computer. Click the "Plan" button in the main menu and click "New Tree" to create a new tree from the data file.

Click the "Import a Tree From an Existing File" option. Click "Browse" and select the FTM file you want to import.

Type a name for the tree and click "Continue." The FTM software imports the FTM file. Click "Close" after you receive confirmation that the file imported successfully.
