How to Play FLAC on Apple Fluke
FLAC is an acronym for Free Lossless Audio Codec File. It is an open-source digital audio format that encodes media with lossless compression. Unlike lossy compression, lossless compression preserves all of the original audio data and it can compress files without compromising quality. FLAC files can be opened in media players like VLC, foobar2000 and VUPlayer. But while iTunes supports playback for digital audio in the MP3, M4A, WAV and AIFF formats, it is not compatible with the FLAC format. Nonetheless, Apple Fluke is a free scripting language utility that enables support for the FLAC format in iTunes.

Tips & Warnings
If you are running iTunes during the installation of Apple Fluke, you must re-start the program before you can make use of Apple Fluke’s features.
Apple Fluke does not convert FLAC files into a supported iTunes audio format, it simply makes it possible for the media to be recognized by iTunes. As a result, it is not necessary to go through the tedious, time consuming process of converting your entirely library of FLAC files into iTunes-compatible versions.
