How to Configure the Medion Drawing Tablet for Photoshop

Adobe’s Photoshop functions smoothly with almost any graphics tablet connected to your system, but some tablets require a degree of setup outside of Photoshop. For example, all Medion tablets include macro keys that can only be assigned to functions or hot key combinations within Photoshop using the MacroKey Manager software. Without macro key assignments, Medion tablets will function as generic tablet devices within Photoshop.

Instructions

    • 1

Install the tablet's driver and MacroKey Manager. This application is required to configure the Medion tablet's macro buttons. For example, Photoshop’s hot key command to create a new document, “Ctrl” and “N,” is assignable to any macro key, making the command accessible from your tablet.

Connect the tablet to your computer with the supplied USB cable. The tablet is powered by the USB port and will turn on automatically. It can be used as a mouse and as a generic graphics tablet device without further configuration.

    • 3

Launch MacroKey Manager. Click the "New" button at the top of the interface. A pop-up box appears.

    • 4

Type "Photoshop" into the File Name field, then press the "Tab" key to advance the cursor to the Open field.

    • 5

Click the button to the right of the Open field. A pop-up box listing all installed applications on your system appears. Select "Photoshop" from the list, then click "OK." MacroKey Manager creates a generic macro key profile that will be automatically enabled whenever Photoshop is running.

    • 6

Open the first drop-down menu at the top of MacroKey Manager's interface and select "Photoshop" from the list.

    • 7

Open the drop-down menu directly below the drop-down menu you just used. Select "K1" from the list. "K1" corresponds to the first macro key on your tablet, going left to right. Any macro key can be assigned to any Photoshop command you like.

    • 8

Place checkmarks in the boxes labeled "Setting" and "Use hot key."

    • 9

Place a checkmark next to "Ctrl." "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Alt" are the modifier keys Photoshop uses to organize hot keys. Placing a check next to “Ctrl” makes the “Ctrl” button the active modifier key for “K1,” the associated macro key.

    • 10

Open the drop-down menu directly below the field labeled “Hint.” This menu lists every key on your keyboard that can be modified using the “Ctrl” key.

    • 11

Select “N” from the drop-down menu

    • 12

Enter a description for the macro key in the “Hint” field.

    • 13

Click the “Confirm” button. MacroKey Manager assigns “Ctrl” and “N” to the first macro key on your Medion tablet.
