How to Make Your Television Play 3-D
If you have a 3-D-capable TV, an HDMI cable, and a device that is capable of outputting content, then you have all of the necessary tools to make your television display 3-D images. The 3-D technology requires devices that are capable of transmitting specific types of data, and those devices must be connected to one another with a specific type of cable that can transmit the high-definition signal required for 3-D playback. With this setup in place, you will be able to view your 3-D media.

1
Verify that your television is 3-D-capable. The ability to display 3-D programming is one of the main selling points of TVs with that feature, so it is often possible to determine this information from product packaging or a user manual. If you are still unable to verify this information, visit the television manufacturer's website and consult the documentation for your TV model.
-
2
Verify that you have a 3-D-capable peripheral, such as a 3-D Blu-ray player or a Sony PlayStation 3. As with your TV, this information can be found on the product packaging, user manual, or manufacturer's website.

Connect one end of an HDMI cable to an HDMI port on your TV, and then connect the other end to the HDMI port on your 3-D peripheral.
-
4
Turn on your 3-D TV, and then turn on your 3-D peripheral.
-
5
Use the "Input" or "Source" button on your 3-D TV remote to select the HDMI input port to which the 3-D peripheral is attached. For example, if you connected the cable to the "HDMI 1" port on your 3-D TV, you would select the "HDMI 1" option.

Use the remote control for your 3-D peripheral to select the 3-D content that you want to watch on your 3-D TV.

Tips & Warnings
Even if your 3-D TV is connected to a 3-D-capable peripheral, you will still need to be watching 3-D content for the material to be viewed in 3-D. An example of 3-D content is a 3-D Blu-ray disc, which is labeled as such because it is different from a regular Blu-ray disc.
Watching 3-D content requires all viewers to be wearing 3-D glasses that are compatible with the output from the television. Check your product documentation to determine which type of 3-D glasses are needed for your specific TV model.
