How to Mod iTunes to Downgrade an iPhone

Apple designed the iPhone to sync with the iTunes application on your computer. Using this sync process you can update the iOS operating system on your device. iTunes does not offer an option to downgrade your iPhone's iOS operating system. You can, however, mod iTunes to allow you to downgrade your device.

Things You'll Need

• iPhone data cable

Instructions

1. Download the firmware file that you would like to use to downgrade your iPhone. Apple offers clickable links to all previous iOS firmware files.

2. Connect your iPhone to your computer using the data cable.

3. Click the Devices option in iTunes.

4. Press and hold the "Shift" key while clicking the "Restore" button in iTunes. This mods iTunes to allow you to downgrade your iPhone.

5. Select the firmware file you downloaded.

6. Click the "Confirm" option to downgrade your iPhone to the selected iOS firmware.
