1
Check the siding carefully, looking for any areas where you have access to the backing. Look for a label or stamp that indicates that Masonite made the siding. If you find a stamp, it should include “X-90” and might include the style name. You can also pull a piece of the siding off the wall with a crowbar and look for the label.

2
Look for siding that sits horizontally on the walls. If the pieces have a smooth finish and overhang each other slightly, it is smooth lap siding. Count the number of vertical pieces and if you count three in each section, it indicates Hiddenridge lap siding.

Run your hands over each board or look for signs of texture, including knots and small dents. This type of siding is Countryside lap siding from Masonite. The design makes the siding look older than it actually is.

4
Examine vertical siding for darker colors and texture that makes the siding look like real wood. Masonite refers to this siding as Woodsman. Masonite also used the woodsman style in horizontal siding, but it still has the same look.

5
Find vertical lines and designs running through siding laid in a horizontal fashion. If the siding pieces overhang each other slightly and have the vertical designs, you have Omniwood lap siding from Masonite.
