How to Mount a Satellite Dish on a Metal Roof
While the majority of satellite dishes are designed to screw down into shingles or asphalt, you may sometimes have to install a dish on a metal roof. Although some satellite companies will not install this for you, it can be done. When installing a satellite dish on a metal roof, you do not drill down into the metal itself, but instead attach it to the seams between the metal panels that make up the roof.

1
Attach the clamps to the seams between the metal roof pieces. The clamps typically fit over the top of the seams and then tighten around them. This way, nothing actually penetrates the metal roof or the seam. Depending on the type of clamps you get, you may just need to twist them into place until they are tight.

2
Drill into the metal clamps with your drill. Typically, satellite dishes come with an installation kit that has screws in it. Make sure to drill the holes in the clamps to the appropriate size for these screws.

Attach the satellite dish base to the clamps by screwing it into the clamps. Line up the holes in the base of the satellite dish with the holes that you drove into the clamps, then screw the screws into the holes and tighten them up by placing nuts on the back side.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure that the clamps you purchase are designed for metal roofs. If you get the wrong type of clamp, it may not hold the dish in place.
