How to Clamp in a Sink
Installing a kitchen or bathroom sink involves several steps including the securing of the sink to a counter or vanity top using specially designed clamps. The clamps feature one hooked end, a flat, extended tongue and a screw that tightens the clamp. Single-basin bathroom sinks usually have four or six clamps and dual-basin kitchen sinks may have up to 12. You can install the sink clamps with a screwdriver and basic home improvement ability. 1
Check the alignment of the sink in relation to its position on the counter.
-
2
Install the hooked end of a clamp onto a corner ridge of the sink. The ridge is located around the entire perimeter of the sink’s underside. The flat extended tongue of the clamp must be under the counter with the head of the clamp screw facing down.
-
-
3
Turn the clamp screw clockwise using the appropriate screwdriver until it is snug. This action will draw the sink tighter to the counter surface. The clamp tongue is secured to the underside of the counter, and the hooked end pulls the sink down as the screw is tightened.
-
4
Install three more clamps in the remaining corners following the procedures described in steps 2 and 3.
-
5
Install all the remaining clamps in an evenly spaced pattern between each corner clamp. Tighten the clamps snug using the screwdriver.
-
6
Tighten the clamp screws, one full turn, around the sink perimeter in rotation.

Tips & Warnings
Properly tightened, evenly spaced clamps exert an equal amount of pressure on the sink. This helps prevent bowing or warping of the sink flange.
