How to Fix a Zipper When the Pull on the Slider Breaks
Zippers are quick, easy, and stylish when they work right. When they break, especially in the middle of a workday or while you're a long way from the nearest sewing kit, they can be a disaster. Losing a slider pull doesn't have to ruin your day, there's a quick fix to get you through the immediate crisis and then a simple repair for when you have the time and leisure to install a permanent replacement. Quick Temporary Fix

Remove any pieces of the pull still attached to the slider. If necessary, break away the loop of the pull with needle-nose pliers.

Open up the first bend of a paper clip and slip the wire through the loop on the slider. Pull the paper clip around to the second bend and then reclose the bent wire.

Wrap the paper clip in adhesive tape, electrical tape or even duct tape to keep it from reopening and to protect your fingers as you raise and lower the zipper.
Replace Zipper Pull

Remove any pieces of the pull still attached to the slider. If necessary, break away the loop of the pull with needle-nose pliers.

Pry up the loop on the slider of the replacement zipper with the needle-nose pliers. Slip the zipper pull off the loop and set it aside.

Pry up the loop on the slider of the zipper to be fixed. Be very cautious not to snap the loop, aluminum and plastic zippers may snap if bent too widely. Open the loop only as wide as is needed to slip on the replacement pull.

Slip the replacement pull onto the loop of the slider being fixed. Use the needle-nosed pliers to close the loop.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't have a paper clip for a temporary fix, use a safety pin. Be sure to tape the safety pin as you would the paper clip to make sure it doesn't pop open and prick you.
