    • 2

Pour one-eighth cup of water into each cup to moisten the soil, then slip the egg carton into a gallon-sized plastic bag. Seal the bag.

    • 3

Place the bag with the enclosed onion seeds into a warm, dark location for 3 days to sprout the seeds.

    • 4

Fill an 18-inch wide pot with potting soil, and place the pot onto a saucer to protect your floor.

    • 5

Dig 2-inch deep holes into the soil with a spade, then transfer one of the sprouted onion seeds into each hole. Cover the holes with soil, allowing the tip of each sprout to poke through the soil. Moisten the soil.

    • 6

Place the pot with the spring onion sprouts into a warm, sunny location in your kitchen. Water the growing onions three times per week. Trim the tall green stalks for use once the spring onion plant is mature.
