1
Determine where you'll hang the decorative lights on the siding. Choose lighting colors to reflect a specific holiday, such as red and green for Christmas, or black and orange for Halloween.
-
2
Lay the strands of lights on the ground to make sure that the plug will reach an electrical outlet. Plug in each light strand to make sure that it functions properly. Replace any non-functioning light bulbs prior to hanging the strands. Check that the outlet is weatherproof and grounded to avoid creating a fire hazard.

3
Starting at one end of the siding and working your way across to the other side, insert the wire clips' ends under the siding lip. Push each clip up until it locks into place.
-
4
Check that the clips are in the correct locations before attaching the lights.
-
5
Attach the decorative strands of lights to the clips following the clip manufacturer’s recommended application. Space the clips every two to three lights apart and adjust how taut the strand is by sliding the clips to the left or right along the siding edge. Pull down on the clip to disengage from the siding for any major adjustments.
