How to Fix an Overextended Frigidaire Dishwasher Door

Your Frigidaire dishwasher's door shouldn't be used as a step stool, but when left open, it can become a magnet for small children and the family dog. Because the door isn't designed to hold more weight than the bottom dish rack filled with dishes, any additional weight placed on the door can stretch the door's springs and overextend the dishwasher door. Replace the springs to keep the open door level and the bottom dish rack from rolling out onto the floor.

Step 4

Mark the holes in the dishwasher frame with a marker where the door springs attach. Remove the bottom of the springs from the dishwasher frame. Slide the top of the springs from the plastic connectors on the side of the dishwasher door.

Step 5

Insert the large hooks from the new springs through the openings in the plastic connectors attached to your dishwasher door. Insert the smaller hooks into the holes you marked with the marker.

Step 6

Open the dishwasher door fully. If the door opens too far or doesn't open far enough, move the springs to another hole in the Frigidaire dishwasher frame.

Step 7

Replace the access panel onto the bottom of your dishwasher. Turn on the Frigidaire dishwasher circuit breaker.
